*This is an IDS course and you must have 45 credits to get credit for the course; however, we welcome those who are not quite ready to take the IDS class and who are interest in auditing the class. (An audit means that you register for the class as a non-credit seeking student. You will not receive credit for this class if you audit it.)

Program Description

This is an exciting opportunity for Summer 2016! HCC, in partnership with Community Colleges for International Development, Inc. and Cross-Cultural Solutions, is offering globally minded students a truly unique international volunteering opportunity in Lima, Peru.

This IDS course offers the opportunity to become immersed in the Peruvian culture through a volunteer program that offers the chance to serve, learn, experience, and enjoy. You will learn about history, including the history of the Inca people. You will discover a culture in all its colors, smells, tastes, and traditions. In your free time, you might choose to experience the sand dunes of Huacachina or explore, if time permits, Macu Picchu. But most of all, you will come to know Peru as a local, as one who has lived and learned there.
